Probably the longest standing hair products company in history is the Wella Group born in the East German town of Rothenkirchen. Founded by Franz Stroher, the inventor of a waterproof tulle which kept wigs firmly in place, Wella hair products have blazed style trails for over 100 years since their beginning.

During the 1920s when women shed their long locks and wigs in favor of the flapper girl bob, many companies in the hair styling products business gave up and shut their doors. But not Wella.
